ACHOF Breaking Grammy Week News Update for March 9, 2021

by Mike Goldstein,

SPECIAL UPDATE 3/9/21 – MUSICARES EVENT) Just prior to the airing of the 63rd Grammy Awards show, the Recording Academy’s MusiCares charity is presenting a special fund/awareness-raising event – the “Music On A Mission” virtual concert that’ll be streamed this coming March 12th at 8PM EST (5PM PST) – will help this organization’s efforts to continue to support those in the music community who’ve been most-impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic (musicians, production personnel, venue owners, etc.). The charitable arm of the Recording Academy (AKA “the Grammy folks”) has put together a star-studded special event that will include performances (both new and from their archives) and special guest appearances by top acts such as Jhené Aiko, HAIM, H.E.R., John Legend Stevie Nicks & Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen and Usher, with 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales benefitting MusiCares’ work supporting those in the music community hardest hit by the pandemic.

Tickets are $25 each, with a special package also available ($200) that includes a pair of Master & Dynamic’s MW07 PLUS True Wireless Noise-Cancelling Earphones. Join in on the fun at

SPECIAL GRAMMY MUSEUM AUCTION) In a two-week-long auction in support of the GRAMMY Museum Foundation that began online March 8th (and runs through approx.. 4:00PM EST March 23rd), fans will find a very nice selection of unique music memorabilia (most of it signed), including instruments, clothing, posters, photographs, vinyl records, once-in-a-lifetime chances to meet (via Zoom and/or in-person) some of your favorite industry celebs and, of course, some album art-related items, with proceeds donated in support of the Foundation’s programs (The GRAMMY Museum is a nonprofit educational organization “dedicated to a greater understanding of the history and significance of music”).

A great example of what you’ll be able to bid on can be found at , where the winning bidder will take home both a first-edition vinyl LP of the Grammy-nominated North Carolina Songbook by North Carolina-based bluegrass band Steep Canyon Rangers (perhaps best-known for their ongoing collaborations with actor/writer/banjo player Steve Martin) along with the original album artwork sketch by Yep Roc Records graphic designer Nathan Golub. The package has been appraised at $1,000, but bidding starts at just $250.00 (if you’d like to watch a short video of Mr. Golub talking about his work on the cover image for this record, click on over to ).

Best of luck to all bidders!
